How long does a netbook battery need to be charged for?

I have a new asus eee netbook 10 inch screen 1005HA which boasts a battery life of 8.5 hours. The instructions are basic and say to charge the battery but don't say how long. I charged it for 8 hours initially and it lasted only 4 hours. I then charged battery again until it showed a 100% battery full, and I have only had just under 3 hours and was warned that the battery was almost dead. Does anybody have one on these? How long does a netbook battery need to be charged for?Manufacturer's estimated battery run times are heavily skewed in their favour. Test conditions to get these results are usually ridiculously impractical. Test systems are often run at very low brightness levels with things like the wireless adaptor, bluetooth, etc. turned off in order to squeeze out every last second of battery life to make the model's spec sheet look the best.

That being said, typically, 3-5 hours is fine when the system is off and charging with a dead battery. Most systems have the battery already charged on delivery so it may take less time. If you want to be sure that the battery is completely charged, plug it in and leave it overnight. How long does a netbook battery need to be charged for?Battery charge and discharge times are completely different. Plug in the computer and leave it charging all day long (24 hours) Then it should be charged to full capacity. Also, on netbooks, there's usually a battery light that indicates when its charging, and that light goes off when the battery is fully charged. How long does a netbook battery need to be charged for?its a lithium ion battery so leave it plugged it in all day. nothing will happen, when the battery gets charged, it will stop charging the battery and start using the outlet as a power source. The battery wont overcharge. You have nothing to worry about. When you had under 3 hours left and it showed a warning, its just like that. you can change the settings and make it so it will show a warning when its under a hour or like under 10 min or w.e. you feel like making it.

So, you cant overcharge the battery so just leave it plugged in all the time
