How to charge the battery on a Toro 550 self propelled mower?

The instructions on the front of the battery have been scratched off. I can't figure how to get the battery out, or even if I need to.How to charge the battery on a Toro 550 self propelled mower? No it isn't recommended taking the battery out or trying to charge it without having the proper charger. You need the charger that plugs into the mower and home. If you don't have it than you need to get the model and serial #s off the mower(usually located on the back) You may have to remove the bag to see it. Depending on those #'s the charger will run anywhere from 18-45 dollars. How to charge the battery on a Toro 550 self propelled mower? If you can see the terminals on the battery you should be able to clip on to those terminals with a charger. Red to Red and Black to Black. Plug the charger into the wall as your last step. Avoid looking straight down at a battery when attempting to connect chargers. You should wear some safety glasses, just in case. They can blow up but it's rare. Remember Red to Red and Black to Black.

Red is positive and Black is negative.

You don't need a special charger per say. An automatic transformer trickle type that has clip connectors will work just fine. I wouldn't use a big charger. I recommend a auto charger less than 1 amp but no more than 2 amp. I have one for my Harley and one for my tractor. They work very well. You can hard wire them on the battery with a short harness and that makes the charger safe and very easy to plug in when needed. I have mine set up that way.

Mine are very much like this one. It comes with everything you need to hard wire it to your mower battery.

I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?

I got a Jaguar with a dead battery. The battery is in the trunk and I can't get into the trunk with no power. How do I jump start this car. Even my friend who is experienced with cars can't figure out where to jump this car. He can't find postive terminal under the hood. Any ideas?I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?Wire a cigarette lighter plug to a 12 volt battery and plug it in to your car to power it up enough to get the trunk open. If your cigarette lighter is no good then you will have to hard wire the 12 v source to the 'batt' pin on your fuse block and ground it to the body on the other post of your donor source then open the trunk!I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?You can open a Jaguar trunk with a key by inserting the key into the hole inside the %26quot;A%26quot; or %26quot;G%26quot; in the Jaguar logo at the rear of your car. I had to call the dealer the first time it happened to me. Neither I nor the tow truck driver knew how and the manuals in an XK8 are in the trunk!

I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?If there is no manual release for the trunk the try to get at the battery through the back seat. If not then there should be battery taps located somewhere under the hood, look for where the wires from the battery come through the firewall.I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?You don't have a key to the trunk?

If not you will probably have to have a locksmith open the trunk for you.I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?#1-use the key to open the trunk

#2-call your nearest jag dealer, ask for the service department, and find out where the jump-start connection is under your hood-not enough info in your question (year/model) for me (or anyone else) to tell you.-you could try under the hood, about 6-12 inches in front of the firewall, by the power junction box- should be covered by a plastic cap, and have something like %26quot;bat. boost%26quot; or %26quot;jump start connection%26quot; printed on it.another place might be about 8 inches behind the driver's headlight

#3 ask another jag ownerI have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car? Will a key not open the trunk?? You should find a pos connecto under the hood, you just have to look. If all else fails call a dealer and ask them.I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?Well you can see the alternator can't you? Put hot cable on output terminal of of alternator, and ground anywhere on car! Turn on ignigtin key and now your whole car is powered up! How old is car,- some of older ones had positive ground- which they called %26quot;positive earth%26quot; (instead of negative like all the American cars)! Make sure it hooked up the right way of course!

You also can charge the battery (with key off)-- by just letting the other car run for a while connected up, -- if battery is good, it will slowly charge up, -- after you open the trunk with electric opener, you can then put on boosters directly to battery and crank! *****(Wire from alterntor to battery is too small for %26quot;jump starting directly%26quot;!)

Do not try to start car with dead battery by cranking right away (unless you have the $100 jumper cables that they use on %26quot;big trucks%26quot;)- the insulation on your wires is %26quot;fat%26quot; but the wires inside are %26quot;thin%26quot;, - and can not carry the amount of current required to crank the engine, so the wires will smoke, and clamps will get hot (possibly burn your hands), - or burn wires in two! Let alternator transfer charge (from other vehicle for 15 minutes)-- or so to %26quot;pick up the dead one%26quot; a little, then it can %26quot;help%26quot; boosters provide enough current to crank! Also alternator on Jag will not charge till a ceritan amount of electricity is in battery to %26quot;excite the alternator to make it %26quot;generate%26quot;!! If to low, altenator doesn't charge, and vehicle runs as far as it can on what was put in battery and dies! Another reason why you should leave cables on for a while!I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?Hook the jumper cables up to the large battery cable post at the starter and a good ground and start the car.I have a dead battery in the trunk of a jaguar and can't get to it. How do I jump start this car?My jag is in the garage so I can't take a look right now but I believe that you can use your key to open the trunk and from there jump via the positive and negative terminals.

How do you replace battery cables and connectors on Chevy Camaro?

I have a 98' Chevy Camaro 3.8L V6 Coupe and I need to replace the battery cables and connectors because my current ones are corroded by battery acid. Yet, I have no idea how to do that. I have very little experience working on automobiles. Any advice would be great! How do you replace battery cables and connectors on Chevy Camaro? There are two many cables. The positive which is Red and the negative which is Black. When removing and installing the cables, always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing repairs. This is also the last thing to be connected. This will prevent you from shorting out the electrical system.

The battery terminals are a side mount and the battery is a 78 series. The bolts are 5/16'. The negative cable runs down to the side of the engine and is attached with a 9/16' or 14mm bolt. The positive cable runs down to the starter and is attached using a 15mm lock nut. This can sometimes be tricky to remove because the terminal stud on the starter solenoid can come loose while trying to loosen the lock nut. To prevent this from happening, hold the cable with your other hand while loosening the lock nut.

Hope this helps and good luck. ChristopherHow do you replace battery cables and connectors on Chevy Camaro? If you want to clean the battery ends just pour some coca-cola onto the ends of the connectors. Depending if the connectors bolt onto the end of the cable or if they are made onto the cable,if the connectors are made to the cable you can cut them off to replace them with new connectors,if there bolted onto the cable just un-bolt the two bolts and replace with new connectors, you should beable to do this job with ease. How do you replace battery cables and connectors on Chevy Camaro?easy, disconnect cables at battery, then follow cables to where they go and disconnect. red cable will go to starter, black cable will go to a ground. a socket set is all you need. you may just need to clean the cables. disconnect at battery, use wire brush to clean off corrosion. (wear gloves). use some sandpaper to clean down to shiny metal, reconnect.. if they are not rusted through, that may take care of it!

How can I conserve battery power on a digital camera?

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70, which runs on a rechargable lithium ion battery.

I want to get the most out of every charge, so what are some tips on how to converse battery power? How can I conserve battery power on a digital camera? When fully charged, your battery should allow up to 270 shots.

To maximize battery life, you should limit the use of the flash, movie shooting and even the zoom.

The T70 doesn't have a viewfinder so you have to compose all your shots using the large 3.0%26quot; LCD. Try to turn it off in-between shots and limit the time you spend reviewing your images, and don't leave the camera on unnecessarily.

good luck...How can I conserve battery power on a digital camera?I am having a hard time understanding your problem. When you are done using your camera, just charge it back up. Using the camera battery and then recharging it is GOOD for the battery. The electrical cost of recharging any camera battery is nothing compared to running your computer so there should not be a financial issue.

Turn off your camera when you are not actually taking pictures. Download your images into your computer using a flash card reader instead of directly from your camera (downloading directly from your camera is the biggest drain on your battery that you can do to it). If you do these things, you should never have a battery problem. How can I conserve battery power on a digital camera?Adding to Petra_au you should turn off any beeps, auto focus assist lamp and the red eye reduction (you can fix red eyes with graphic editors). How can I conserve battery power on a digital camera? With nimh batteries they all self drain. What you need is a %26quot;Hybrid battery%26quot;. They don't drain like normal nimh. Over the span of a year without being used they retain around 80% of their initial charge. You can still recharge them like a normal nimh, and even use the same charger you already have. Another cool thing is they are ready to be used right out of the package like alkaline batteries!

How often should I exhaust my laptop battery's power and re-charge, as a process?

Well, it's considered good practice to first allow all the power in your laptop's battery to drain out (from use, without the laptop being connected to the power), and then plug in the power to recharge it fully. This ensures all the cells within the battery get discharged and recharged and none die before the other, therefore ensuring longevity for the battery.

However, it is a must to go by this process every single time? How often should I exhaust my laptop battery's power and re-charge, as a process? It is NOT a good idea to let the laptop's battery drain out, like many people say. It is too hard on the battery. What you need to do is to do at least 1 cycle per month (the equivalent of discharging it completely and recharging it completely, but it is better to do like 1/2 discharging, 1/2 charging, 1/2 discharging, 1/2 charging to do the cycle instead of draining it completely down).

I used to let my laptop's battery drain completely and now it only lasts an hour at best so it's not the way to go.

How to change the battery on a 2004 pt cruiser?

I am unable to remove the air cleaner housing in order to reach the 13mm and 10mm nuts or bolts holding the battery secure. It also appears that when the battery is freed it will be extremely difficult to remove it from under the left front quarter panel which curves over the front left corner of the battery. On the right side of the battery the radiator hose is in close proximity and I am not sure that the battery will clear it. What do I do?How to change the battery on a 2004 pt cruiser?although it appears that there is not much room , there is actually plenty. How do I improve the health of my battery in my MacBook, and is this a good health?

I downloaded the iStat Pro widget today, and I looked at the battery health section. It read that my battery health is at 97% after 230 cycles. I've had it since June '08, so I was wondering if that was a good battery health considering its age and cycles.

What else can I do to improve my battery health, or keep it at a good percent, over the years? Any suggestions? How do I improve the health of my battery in my MacBook, and is this a good health?Don't use computer with the charger plugged in unless it needs to be charged. Doing so will kill the battery in short order. Batteries are designed to be discharged and charged. Many say batteries have no memory which I dispute. Read several pages here and you'll find that most of the battery problems are from leaving the charger plugged in.How do I improve the health of my battery in my MacBook, and is this a good health?BSGHost1 is completely wrong: while what he said WAS true, that's not the case with current Mac batteries. In fact, to save your battery and make it last longer, you should ALWAYS use it plugged into the wall when you can: only run off the battery if you absolutely have to. I got that info from a close friend who works for Apple in the repair division.

97% and 230 cycles is right where you should be. Chances are you are going to run into an obsolete hardware problem before you wear out the battery!

How often should I change the battery fluid?

The battery in my car has gone dead. I talked to some coworkers and they asked if I had ever changed the battery fluid. I am kinda new to taking care of my own car. I don't know how often or even how to go about this. I can't find the drain plug they talked about and I don't see and battery fluid on the shelf at the store so I don't know ehre to get it. Any help would be appriciated. How often should I change the battery fluid?Hi. You don't change it!! On your scooter, you can, especially if it were sitting all winter, but your supposed to bring the battery inside for the winter so it doesn't prematurely fail. It is safer and easier to buy an at least 650Cold Cranking Amp battery for your car as this battery will stay strong all winter. Don't change your battery fluid because it is not worth possibly burning your skin if you spill any acid. Great question though. If your car battery fluid is low, you can top it off with water, but again it is really not worth it. Bring it to ant auto parts store for a free test. How often should I change the battery fluid?Time for a little payback. Tell them you called Die Hard, and they told you the fluid didn't need changed, but %26quot;boosted%26quot; Tell them you added some baking soda and now it's fine. In the mean time, buy a new battery. The baking soda neutralizes the acid in the battery and it won't work anymore. Buy a new battery! How often should I change the battery fluid? You generally DON'T replace your battery %26quot;fluid%26quot; (It's actually a fairly strong Sulfuric Acid, and will cause sever chemical burns upon contact with skin, clothes, etc..) When you battery is dead, you either jump it and see if it takes a charge from running...if it doesn't then you should have your alternator checked to see if it's charging the battery, if it is then you need to replace the battery itself (most modern batteries are sealed and require NO maintenance)

Edit: Whatever you do DO NOT listen to this idiot above me who suggest drilling a hole in the battery...MORON!!!How often should I change the battery fluid?Your coworkers are %26quot;pushing your leg%26quot; Battery fluid doesn't get %26quot;replaced%26quot; you can ADD distilled water to restore the electrolyte ( although most new batts are %26quot;sealed%26quot; ). How to get the battery out of my 03 buick century?

The battery is on the left side underneath some hoses and underneath this long metal bar that connects to the fender to the front of the car. It looks like a support rod or something and its also on the other side.

The battery cables on this car screw into the battery which I think is pretty weird since ive never seen any batteries like this before.

The side mount terminals began way back in the 1970's with the chevrolet vega. The idea was to pack the car into a special train car and stand the car on its nose and not have the terminals short out during transport. This was done so that they could prevent allot of the damage experienced by shipping in open train cars.

What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?

The battery on my cell phone that i've had for approximately 2 years lasts about 10 minutes when fully charged. My last resort is buying a new battery. What can I do to make the battery life longer? It is a lithium ion battery in a kyocera cell phone.

If i do have to buy a new battery? How much would it cost me or would it be cheaper to just buy a new phone? What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?I've always heard that you should let your battery run all the way down, then charge it completely. Do this a few times. It's kinda like resetting the memory. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?Make the backlight stay on at shorter time intervals (i.e. 5 sec instead of 10 sec). What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?Whenever I sign up for a new phone service, I always %26quot;sweet talk%26quot; the counter person into giving me an extra battery before I sign the contract. So I have a spare. Now, to get your battery to last longer, let the charge run completely dead, rub a strong magnet over the outside of the casings back side, sprinkle a pinch of salt over it while mumbling the incantation %26quot;back to life%26quot; ten times over the battery. This must be done at the darkest hour of the night also... Ok Ok.. just stop at the magnet and allow the battery to fully charge (24 hours) before putting it back in use. It should be much better than it was before. Now stop using it so much. :PWhat can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?Haha. Looser. Then you probobly have a REALLY CHEAP PHONE. Ok so like c;mon man... TEN YEARS. no wonder. my answer --%26gt; GET A NEW PHONE YA BUM. :PWhat can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?make sure it is completely discharged before recharging again. charge it up completely. A new battery is cheaper than a new phone (especially if you like yours.).. Also check your settings and keep things to a min/ like you said your back light. etc. Also drainage can happen because of your tower connection and the call you are making. If you are on digital it takes more batt power than normal setting. If you can surf the net this drains the battery too. Also if you roam a lot. As it is looking for a connection it will use more power.. these are all things to take in consideration.

btw.. it was recommended that i leave the charger on as long as possible and with my kyo there is no harm in overcharging these lion battsWhat can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?make sure GSRM connection is at %26quot;when needed%26quot; instead if %26quot;always on%26quot; it just seems to help. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer? If you've had your current cell phone for 2 years, it is time for you to get a new cell phone. most cell carriers give you a new phone after a 2-year contract.

The problem can not be solved in anyway, there is no %26quot;training%26quot; your batter as people think.

The best way to go about it is to buy a new cell phone, b/c a new battery will cost you about $50, give or take. you may as well spend that amount towards a new phone, less hassle. b/c your new battery may present with the same problem you have now. so you would be back in the same position. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?Well my phone is a new kyocera but I was having hte same problems so I got a new battery and the cost depends on the model; check with your company you have your contract through. Sometimes if you are still under contract you can upgrade to a new phone, which in the long road would be better because eventually you wont be able to buy parts for the old one.

I was recommended one trick though in keeping batteries lasting longer is to leave them on until they die. Then plug it in and let it charge for 10 hours. Turn it on and let it die again. You should do this 3 times. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer? If you do buy a new battery make sure you fully charge it before using it because that makes it last longer during usage. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?you have to go out and buy a new one because you have most likely use the charging mechanism in it to much, I think your best bet is to go buy a new battery for like 20.00. You could of overcharged it to. Hey i have best anwser so rate me best thx. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?I think you need to buy a new battery. I'm not familiar with shopping for cell phone batteries, but shop around online %26amp; maybe Circuit City. Also look at the mA-h ratings %26amp; buy the one with the bigger rating even though it will cost more. This way you may end up better than a new phone.

Once you've got a new battery, you can try to extend the life. First, if the charger is a cheapo unit, you can overcharge the battery. So don't leave it in the charge mode any longer than necessary. Second, batteries don't like excess heat. Try to keep the phone out of the sun or hot glove-boxes etc. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer? If you wait until your battery is almost completely dead before you re-charge it, it will last longer. Waiting until you have two or so bars left and then charging it actually decreases your battery life. When you do get a new battery, start charging it this way. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?my advice for you is, when you charge your cell phone, do not overcharge your battery by leaving it on overnight, keep watching your cell phone until it is fully charge, in this way, you can make the life span of your battery longer, no it is much cheaper to buy new battery than buying new cell phones. What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?yOU SHOULD BE ALWAYS CONNECTED TO A CHARGER .What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?Get a new phone. I had a rental phone when mine was down, and it was kyocera, and they put a new battery on it for me, and it died so fast. Like, 24 hours on stand by. After that, with the new battery, kill it, then charge it for a full 24 hours. It stops charging automatically, so don't worry. leave it charging just to make sure. Do this 2 or 3 more times. This is if you get the old style of battery. How long does it take for a laptop battery to die?

I bought a brand new laptop. I got a top of the line, windows 7 laptop that cost $1000. I bought it 2 months ago and I love it but now the battery is shot. If it's plugged in, it works. But if I unplug it, it says I have 10% battery life. Why is my battery already shot on a brand new laptop? I can't take it back because I bought it in a different state and I moved and no longer have the box or anything. How much does the batteries cost and where do I buy them? How long does it take for a laptop battery to die?It shouldn't matter where you bought the laptop and where you've moved to, the manufacturer is responsible for the product, not the retailer. Contact the manufacturer and tell them about the battery problem. It should be covered under the warranty if it's only a couple of months old. Good luck! How long does it take for a laptop battery to die?Hey you can go for below model. Please visit below link.

  • How do I wire an auxiliary battery in my horse trailer?

I have a horse trailer that needs auxiliary power run to it from my truck - and/or an auxiliary battery on the trailer. I am unsure of the wiring that needs to be done. I plan on running a wire from my truck battery back to the 7-pin connector which should provide auxiliary power while connected to my truck. I understand I need to install a battery on the horse trailer to supply power when disconnected from the truck.

Can you provide me some insight on how this all comes together?

Thanks in advance... !How do I wire an auxiliary battery in my horse trailer?run a hot wire to the 7 pin aux wire...connect that to the pos side of the aux battery.find the groung wire on the 7 pin connector..run a wire from it to the neg side of aux battery and also one wire from the neg side to the frame of the trailer. remember if you use the battery too long without the truck hooked up and running you will destroy the aux battery

How many amps should a car battery be at?

I have a 2001 VW Passat and the battery suddenly died. I have had a charger running on the battery for the last 4 hours. The charger is showing that the battery is only at 1.5 amps. Is that normal? How many amps do I have to let the charger get up to until the car will have enough juice to turn over? How many amps should a car battery be at?Battery technology gets complicated, so, here goes!

A new, fully charged battery produces 2.1 volts per cell or 12.6 volts for a 12 volt battery. You must understand what voltage and amperage mean. Voltage is a measure of electrical pressure. Amperage is the amount of current passing through a conductor. As a battery discharges - goes dead - the electrical resistance increases especially with todays maintenance-free batteries. A 6 amp charger probably will not fully charge your battery since the internal resistance of the dead battery is so high. You should slow charge the battery but I recommend a charger with an output of 10-12 amps, see if you can borrow one. With all that being said, replacing your battery is probably the best thing to do because today's cars operate at very high operating and underhood temperatures and this tends to prematurely kill batteries, especially in warmer climates such as the southern or southwest states. Further, as a battery ages, it's electrochemical action to produce electrical current to your car's electrical system is no where as good as it was fours year ago, when it was new, since the battery plates tend to shed the lead oxide over time. So, pop for a new battery, afterall, one wrecker or service call could pay for a couple of batteries for your car and unfortunately you cannot predict where you'll be when the battery dies and leaves you stranded at some strangers mercy! Good luck. How many amps should a car battery be at?the more the battery is charged the less amps it will draw. This is not a test of the battery, however. you can have the battery tested at most part houses. How many amps should a car battery be at?The 1.5 amps is how much the charger is putting in to the battery. Not how much is in the battery. If the car will start on it's own then start it up and drive it for half an hour. How many amps should a car battery be at?1st. How old is the battery? 2nd. 3rd. It should register atleast 10 to turn over. You may want to buy a new battery. How many amps should a car battery be at?Couple unknowns here what is the amps on the battery charger? 1.5 amp will take several hours to charge a battery. Try something hook the charger on a car with a good battery and see output from the charger. I would think your battery has several bad cells. Charging into an open battery. How many amps should a car battery be at?The charger amperage will decrease as the battery reaches full charge. How many amps should a car battery be at?amps are just the rate of current flowing to the load, what you need is voltage, and that should be right around 12.5V amps to turn it over. a voltage boooster would help for a quick start. amps all depend on the load the voltage is connected to (resistance). How many amps should a car battery be at?is this the original or 2nd battery ? they only live for 5 years on average, at 1.5 amp. the thing will need to charge for at least 24 hours, check the sides for temperature, warm is OK, hot is not, when your done charging check the voltage it has to be at least 12 v. anything less and you have a shorted out cell either way it sounds like new battery timeHow many amps should a car battery be at?a 4 yr old battery is ready for replacement.. especially if it is a service free battery... Be sure to unplug the battery from the car before charging or the power will seep into the voltage regulator and you will lose the charge.

What battery is best for storing wind generated electricity?

I am wanting to have a wind turbine/wind mill for my home to supplement or replace the grid electricity I use. I see that the winds come and go. So I need to store some amount of the electricity that my wind mill makes. What is the best and safest battery I can use? What is its cost? How much energy will it store? What recharge rate does it need? Thanks. What battery is best for storing wind generated electricity? The deep cycle is the best . To have enough to supply any to the grid it would need to be as big as your car. They are not cheap. What battery is best for storing wind generated electricity?the easiet %26amp; cheapest to get are large lead acid from telephone exchanges or submarines etc.

there is no need to invest in newer technology batteries as space and weight are not such an issue for static instalations. and you will be delivering into a fairly steady load.

How to stop my capacitor from draining my battery when parked?

I have a 40 farad Tsunami capacitor installed to try and help from my lights dimming when my stereo is pumped, which it does a bit. I have noticed that ever since i had it installed that if I dont drive my car for a day the battery is dead. I can only assume that the capacitor is draining the battery. Is there any way of stopping this or shutting the power connection off? I have seen things that if you have 2 batteries installed it stops one battery from raining the other, would this help? How to stop my capacitor from draining my battery when parked?the best way to stop you battery from draining is to sell the cap and use the money towards a stronger atlernator. How to stop my capacitor from draining my battery when parked?Installing a 2nd battery will only make your alternator strain more. The capacitor shouldn't have anything to do with draining your battery, make sure your amp fully powers off when you turn your car off it could be staying on all the time.

If this isn't it, try unplugging your cap for a day and see if it still kills your battery, if so, then you'll know it isn't your cap!How to stop my capacitor from draining my battery when parked?A properly functioning capacitor - regardless of the value in micro farads or farads will absolutely not drain your battery - once charged, there is no DC current draw in a capacitor.

Think of the capacitor as a reservoir of current - when it is charged and the battery voltage drops due to a sudden increase in the load, the capacitor discharges, maintaining the voltage at a reasonably steady level.

Electronics Tech. How to stop my capacitor from draining my battery when parked? The problem is probably not the cap draining power but it putting added strain on your alternator. Your alternator has to work even harder then if the cap wasn't there. This means your battery is not being charged fully so it is dying.

You will most likely need to invest in a bigger alternator. If you don't you are going to have either your battery and/or your alternator fail.

Good Luck!!!How to stop my capacitor from draining my battery when parked?BECAUSE THE CAPACITOR PUTS MOTE STRAIN ON THE SYSTEM IT DOES NOT SAVE YOUR SYSTEM, IF ANYTHING JUST HURTS IT MORE!!!

Could i power my amp off a separate battery not connected to my Alternator? How long will it last?

I have a Kicker 2500.1 Amp and it drains my battery so I was wondering if I just buy a separate battery and run my amp off that till it dies and then use a trickle charger to charge it back up if that would work. How long would the average battery last off an amp this big? In the long run i just dont want to have to upgrade my alternator and parallel a second battery.Could i power my amp off a separate battery not connected to my Alternator? How long will it last?how long you get depends on the rating of the battery. how many amp hours it has, and how much current your amp will draw from it. But that would be a hassle I think.

You really need a larger alternator, or an extra alternator.

Just leave it hooked up to your main battery and don't run your system with the engine off. every now and then turn your music down and give your alternator a chance to charge your battery back up. and maybe consider getting a deep cycle battery also.

But there's only so much you can do with an alternator thats overloaded.Could i power my amp off a separate battery not connected to my Alternator? How long will it last?15 minutes if your lucky. it would be better to just upgrade alt and be done with it

How long does a car battery last?

For around $60.How long does a car battery last?Car batteries are like any other product. You get what you pay for. You can spend thirty bucks and get a 36 month battery, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want a battery you can depend on. Where you live, you need to pay attention to the CCA (cold cranking amps), the higher the bettter. I suggest an Optima battery. It'll set you back about $140.00, but believe me, it's well worth the investment. I've had one Optima for eight years and it's still going strong. How long does a car battery last?old wise tell..... if its not broke dont fix it..... and 3 to 5 yrs is the normal..... if and when it does let you down then get one..... are easy to replace and can be done by anyone and always spend the money and buy a good brandname one they do out last the cheaper onesHow long does a car battery last? You can have it %26quot;load tested%26quot; at the auto store, but why take a chance with an old battery. An emergency road service will cost the price of a new battery not to speak of the risks of breaking down somewhere and having an accident as a result. The average life of typical lead acid batteries is less than 5 years if you were to measure the additional load the battery is forcing the alternator to work against. My opinion is that you may shorten the life of your alternator by forcing it to charge up an old battery. Then you'll need a new battery as well as a new alternator!!How long does a car battery last?6 minutes

  • How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?

My car broke down on me again and we檝e been charging the battery on an external charger for a couple of hours now so we can see if it was the battery or my alternator. I was just wondering if that檚 typical or not for the charge to take so long. How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?depending on type of charger it could take several hours to overnightHow long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?Always try to charge your car battery at least 1hr at a rate of 10 or more amps for quick charge or less than 10 amps for several hrs for more of a full charge. Jump starting a near dead battery can damage your cars recharging system.

    Shops use commercial chargers

Properly charging an automotive battery goes like this.

Charge at a rate of 30 amps for 30 minute intervals and recheck.

This can take up to 8 hours to fully recharge a battery. How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?it depens on the charger it is best you go slowe it is 12 hrHow long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery? It all depends on the charger and how dead the battery is. Mine is usually 4 hours.

Once your battery is charged put it back in and start the car. Unhook the negative from the battery. If it is your alternator the car will shut off, if it isn't the car will still run. Then you will know what the problem is...How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery? It depends all the type of battery and the power rating of the charger. Some charges will charge in less than an 1hr some can take up to several hours. Forget about charging a battery just jump start it if you have another car available and jumper cables your car will be charged in minutes not hours. How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?Unless it's a %26quot;quick charge%26quot;charger then over-night is typical to get a decent charge.

If the battery light was not on when the car was running then it's not the alternator. If there's any white crud growing on the battery terminals this can insulate the battery connections and it may not recharge while driving the car or if you hook up a charger to it.

Most batteries will last the length of the warranty period plus a few months if driven around town with some highway miles and they will last way past the warranty period if you do mostly highway miles and keep the terminals clean (service like every other year or once a year if parked outside all of the time).

Most places that sell batteries will do a free charging system diagnostic and this checks the battery, alternator, and starter.

Good Luck! How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?battery's go dead for a reason and they do not live forever if your battery keeps going dead maybe the battery is shot or the charging system is dead alternators go bad too have you looked at the water level? heat kills a battery quick 2 years +- go to a parts store like auto zone have it ck for freeHow long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?it depends on the amperage of the charger. most chargers are variable amperage ranging from 2or4 amps and going up to 250 amps on some chargers which is for starting only. the best is to charge at the lowest setting over night to keep the battery from getting hot. if the battery gets too hot it can swell and crack the lead plates in the cells. slow charge is always best be patient.

What is the best way to charge a Lithium ion battery for maximum battery life?

I recently bought a new cell phone with a lithium ion battery. The sales person said I should plug it in every night regardless of how much I use it. My previous cell phone's manual said to occasionally completely discharge the battery before charging. I do not recall what kind of battery it had. My new cell phone manual dosen't mention anything at all about charging. Should I fully discharge the battery before charging or is it safe to charge nightly and still get a long life out of the battery? What is the best way to charge a Lithium ion battery for maximum battery life?To make your batteries last the longest: first time charge is usually overnight as it is slow as heck...HOWEVER you DO need to condition your batteries at the beginning, and every 2-3 months for optimal performance. To condition a battery - let it run down to DEAD DEAD DEAD then recharge fully on a wall (plug in) charger. Do that 3 times in a row. Do NOT use your car charger to condition - every time you stop your car and restart that interrupts the charging cycle and is hard on your battery. For the same reason never leave it connected to your car charger continuously. If you want max life, don't expose to freezing or overly hot temperatures as rapid temp changes and overheating can shorten battery life. That goes for both ni-mh and li-ion batteries. You had it right the first time, so keep doing what you did with your 'old' battery. The only time I 'top off' mine is if I'm going to be going somewhere there is no charger, or I expect to use my entire phones' power supply while out of the house. Other than that, it goes dead to one bar before i recharge. my battery is 3 years old and going strong. What is the best way to charge a Lithium ion battery for maximum battery life? With any battery you should occasionally discharge the battery before recharging. But with this type of battery it can be recharged nightly. I usually only charge my battery when it gets low.

How to stop a laptop battery from draining even when plugged in?

Ive got an old Mac Powerbook G4, and ive noticed lately that the battery continues to drain even when its plugged in while im using it. When i stop using it the battery charges back up. Can you have to many accessories plugged into a laptop so that the battery on it will drain even when the computer is plugged in?

How can I recharge a 2nd 24V battery in my boat while running the motor with my main battery?

I have a Deep Cycle 24V marine battery for craking, running the boat, etc. I just bout a 2nd battery for my trolling motor. I want to be able to put a charge on that 2nd battery while I am running the motor (cruising, finding new spots, etc). How can this be done?

Thanks in advance! How can I recharge a 2nd 24V battery in my boat while running the motor with my main battery?Hook them up in a parallel circuit. How can I recharge a 2nd 24V battery in my boat while running the motor with my main battery? There are two basic problems with this set up. First of all, if you are running an outboard, they usually have a 5 amp or 10 amp alternator, so it takes a lot of running to recharge a trolling motor. Second, if you wire them in parallel, you will be using both batteries for cranking, running the boat, etc.

You should isolate the trolling motor off from the other battery by installing a diode on the positive cable to prevent this battery from putting out juice to running the boat, cranking, etc.

If you have an inboard or an I/O check the alternator to see what its output is. It may be sufficient, or you may be able to get a higher output one.

However, it is probably better to use 110 V AC to a battery charger to charge up your trolling motor on a routine basis.

    Regards,

DanHow can I recharge a 2nd 24V battery in my boat while running the motor with my main battery?Another option to the above is to set up a second 24 volt bank with a switch to change over from one to another. Then you have 2 sets of 24 for emergency as well as splitting a single off to run your troll, and a second single for the added time. Easier to wire than trying to isolate a 12 volt bat. on a 24 volt system. You just need a switch. There are electronics to separate a 12 and 24 and allow charging for things like marine electronics but the cost is right up there. How can I recharge a 2nd 24V battery in my boat while running the motor with my main battery?im not sure if you can daisy chain because you might burn the boats electrical up or get a solar charger and connect it to the trolling battery. it wont put much of a charge but will keep it alive. How can I recharge a 2nd 24V battery in my boat while running the motor with my main battery?Buy a battery isolater switch from your local marina. It will allow you to connect both batteries and you use the switch to choose between Bat 1, Bat 2, Both, or Off.

How far should hybrid run off the battery before the gas engine starts?

Let me be very specific- I am looking for the actual criteria as to when the %26quot;traction%26quot; battery needs replacing in a hybrid. My wife's Camry hybrid hardly ever runs off just the battery. The gas engine is off at a stop light or going down hill but almost all the rest of the time the gas motor is running. It seems at very slow speeds and for very short distances it should run off the battery. How does one tell when the traction battery needs to be replaced? There should be a quantitative description, not just %26quot;it depends%26quot; Thanks! How far should hybrid run off the battery before the gas engine starts? The car will only run off the battery at very low speeds. If the car were to only run off the battery you might get a few blocks before the hybrid battery is drained. The gas engine is being used as a generator at times to keep the electric motors running. This is normal for your vehicle to only turn off at stop lights or downhill. when going downhill the electric motor is being used as a generator to charge the hybrid battery. There is no way to tell you when the battery needs to be replaced but I can tell you that your car will have a hybrid warning light (similar to check engine light) when there is a problem in that system.

How to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?

I have a lawn tractor (Yardman riding mower) model number

13aj771g713, Serial number: 1c155b40193. I used it for two years. Last year I had to charge the battery the first time and it works fine. This year when I charge, the charger displays an error, meaning the battery is dead, or the connection is not good, according to the manual of the charger. I made sure the connection is good.

So I am wondering maybe the battery is dead? How can I make sure? I have a multitester but it only can check batteries of of 1.5v - 9v. The tracor's battery is 12v.How to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?Bring it to an auto parts store. I know Auto-Zone does this. Most of them have a load tester that'll determine whether it's good or not. It may well read 12 volts on a meter but still not be any good. Most of the automotive parts stores will test it for free. How to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?Get a multitester that goes up to 12v then. How to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?Jump it with you car or truck if it is 12 volt. Let it run for a while, if it doesn't start again, battery is bad.How to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?well, if it won't start then it is a dead battery, what you may have is a low electrolyte problem. you see, the battery is full of battery acid. the acid is diluted with distilled water, as the battery charges and discharges it slowly electrolysises the water(basically it evaporates) and the acid becomes more and more concentrated which makes the battery stop working.

what you want to do is go to the store and get a gallon of distilled water,IT MUST BE DISTILLED, if it isn't it will create deadly chlorine gas and destroy the battery. a gallon of distilled water is cheaper than a battery. you will also need a turkey baster and a flat head screw driver(turkey baster is optional, and can be substituted with a funnel, but the baster will make things easier).

Take the battery out of the mower and put it outside on the driveway or something. take the screw driver and CAREFULLY remove the two black caps from the top of the battery, they should just pop off with a little prying. then, look inside(remember you are dealing with acid) the water level will probably be pretty far down there. fill up the baster with some water and fill each of the six chambers up to about 1/2 of an inch from the top of the battery( the holes will have little parts that stick down, with a little slot in the side, you should be about 1/8 of an inch under the opening of the slot to allow for vapor venting, if you over fill it, then the battery will leak from the vent cap.) do this six times and CAREFULLY put the vent caps back on and make sure they are pushed all the way down. your battery should be just fine now. this took what, like 5-10 minutes? plus the time it took to stop by the store and pick up a gallon of distilled water. If you ask me this is much better than just going out and getting a new battery.

one time my mower did not have enough power to even try to start. I filled up the electrolyte level and I didn't even have to charge it, I just put it in and it started the mower as if it had just came off of a charger. How to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?use volt ohm meter. use a battery hygrometer, have it load testedHow to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?A large multi meter is not going to help you. A battery can still provide 12v but not provide enough amps to spin the motor. Lawn tractor batteries a pretty crappy, if you can get 2 seasons out of one, you have done well. Hope this helps. dHow to tell a lawn tractor's battery is dead?take the battery to autozone, walmart or some other major autoparts store and ask them to put it on their battery tester. or you can buy a 12 volt multimeter and tast it your self. 2 yrs is about right for a lawnmower battery to start showing signs of going bad though.

How quickly does a laptop battery normally die?

I have an Asus F3 laptop and it appears the battery is dead after just over 2 years. I need to plug my machine in - in order for it to work. I am going to buy a new battery - however before I do that could it be something else that's wrong or does it sound glaringly obvious that it's the battery? How quickly does a laptop battery normally die?well, in my opinion, when u first got your new laptop and battery, the work time is different from the performace your battery play now. full charge the laptop battery and compare with the work time, if it is over half of the new one, you should change it. for most battery can be normal used in 400-500 charge and discharge circles. How quickly does a laptop battery normally die? Many people have different views on this. Mine is that if you leave it plugged in most of the time the battery will fail more quickly. On my ASUS EEE I exercise the battery by taking it down to around 5% before charging it back up again. It also depends on what type the battery is. I do know that people with computers that have the same battery's the amount of new batteries they need have varied greatly. Two years might be slightly on the low end but not unreasonably so.

DavidHow quickly does a laptop battery normally die?Your battery is definitely the one malfunctioning. The life span of a battery would normally range from 2-3 years. But do charge only when it is below 20% of its capacity this way you won't decrease its capacity which would would require recalibration. How quickly does a laptop battery normally die?Just count the the laptop battery charging cycles, Li-ion battery has limited battery charging and discharging cycles for 300-500 times. so the battery is dying after 2 years' normal using. How quickly does a laptop battery normally die?many batteries for laptop i know have lives for about two years. so maybe you should buy a new batteries instead. How quickly does a laptop battery normally die?get a new laptop batteryHow quickly does a laptop battery normally die?Average battery life is 2 years

I wish to connect my laptop to a battery. How can I do this? What is the capacity of the battery?

I am a travelling salesman. I sell VCDs and CDROMs from my van (mobile unit). I wish to connect my Dell Sempron laptop to an external battery in order to display the CDs to my customers at fairs and exhibitions. Will a regular car battery be able to power my laptop for a few hours each day? Will this supplement the battery that is already in the laptop? Can I connect the external battery to the van so that it recharges when the vehicle is running?I wish to connect my laptop to a battery. How can I do this? What is the capacity of the battery?Your best option would be to buy a Power inverter.

What this does is plugs into your Cigarette lighter and converts the power from there into a standard power outlet.

From there, you can just plug your normal power adapter into that inverter and avoid messing with extra batteries and such.I wish to connect my laptop to a battery. How can I do this? What is the capacity of the battery?Yes you can do that.

But first you need to check the power pack on the laptop.

The bit you plug into the wall outlet.

Check the output voltage. I have a ACER and it does not run on 12 Volts it runs on 19Volts DC.

You will need to purchase a DC-TO-DC CONVERTER, Switchmode power supply.

Input 12-16Volts DC output is selectable by a switch and it comes with a variety of plugs, one of which will fit your laptop.

I heard putting alkaline batteries in a fridge extends the battery life, so does it really work? By how much percentage does it extend the battery life? Is it worth it?How effective is putting an alkaline batteries in a fridge to extend battery life?if you take regular batteries to the arctic, they will get so cold that their output will fall off significantly.

Simples, no?How effective is putting an alkaline batteries in a fridge to extend battery life?Refrigerating batteries doesn't really extend life that much. Batteries that are cold discharge more slowly, and therefore appear to last longer, because they are putting out less power than they do at room temperature.
