I have a Ford Explorer 2000. The battery is dying so I want to buy one that lasts through the winter and that has high crank power so I don't need to worry about it. Can someone tell me how I know first the type of battery and second how much crank power it must say (what number for crank). What battery should I buy in order to have high crank power? There are other batteries that are considered higher quality, but I get mine at Walmart. You can look up the battery for your vehicle on their computer. I usually choose the 3 year free replacement ones. The %26quot;cold cranking amps%26quot; are your cranking power. The higher these are the more cranking power you have. What battery should I buy in order to have high crank power?Any battery brand is good what you need to look at is the COLD CRANKING AMPS for the truck you wont around 800 cold crank amps or higher have you check to make sure you don't have any other trouble with the truck a new battery should last 4 to 5 years in the truck so if your replacing then often then you need to have it looked atWhat battery should I buy in order to have high crank power?Well as far as brand I like Interstate batteries myself. Now go to an auto parts store and ask them for a battery that will fit that vehicle but has a higher CCA ( cold cranking amps) rating. But seriously unless you plan on hooking up a ton of stereo equipment and such the original rating will do. If you want to go all out you can also ask for a gel pack battery.
If you DO plan on hooking up alot of stereo equipment I also recommend boosting your charging system. Install an alternator with a higher amperage rating. What battery should I buy in order to have high crank power?any parts store can tell you what battery is needed for your vehicle, don't worry too much about cranking amps they will sell you what is recommended for your vehicle as previously said battery should last 4-5 years. Car batteries come in various sizes and shapes you can't necessarily put just any battery in you vehicle just get what is recommended. What battery should I buy in order to have high crank power? The standart ampere hour capasity on your 2000 Ford Explorer is enough to get through the winter. The problem is, the cold has frozen the battery acid fluid and make the molecul that contain electron can't move to make current, that why cold has bad influence to the electronic device by holding the electric movement. A use of maintenance free might help, better then regular type. To bigger the ampere, 10 amp bigger is enough. But please consider the battery place size and alternator capability to charge.
