How do you hook led light wires to your car battery?

I bought wipers that light up but I don't know how to hook them up to my car battery. I know the red wire goes to the + and the black - but how do I physically hook them up?How do you hook led light wires to your car battery? They shouldn't go direct to the battery or they will be on all the time. Run the wires into the engine compartment, then through one of the grommets on the firewall into the passenger compartment. I would look at the fuse block and find either a 'IGN' hot circuit (only has power when the key is in the run position) or 'BAT' (has power all the time - if you might want the lights on when parked).

Disconnect the negative battery cable and carefully strip some of the insulation off the wire (don't use the squeeze on taps, they cut part of the wire and lead to problems). Wrap your new wire to that wire and solder it in place. Cover the bare wires with electrical tape. Place a fuse in that line, then go to a switch, then to the red wire to the LED's. The black lead can be connected to any metal under the hood (try crimping on a ring terminal and placing it under an existing screw or bolt).

Reconnect the negative cable and you should have the LED's whenever you turn on the switch. How do you hook led light wires to your car battery?Either to the fuse box or the wiper engine or the battery itself. You don't say what kind of car it is. Do the instructions say to go direct to the battery? If so, I hope it has an inline fuse (something plastic, usually white, partway up the wire).

NOTE: I'm pretty sure you would NOT hook them up to the battery, otherwise they'd be on all the time and would drain the battery. More likely they go to the wiper motor or switch. What do the instructions say?

Always disconnect the battery before working, though. To do so, take a wrench and remove the BLACK (Neg) battery cable, and set it aside so it doesn't accidentally hit the battery terminal. If you have radios with security settings, they may reset when you reconnect.
