My 3 year old Toshiba laptop wont charge. How do I know if I need to replace the battery or if I need to replace the adaptor? At one point it wouldn't charge and I would simply unplug the adaptor and then plug it back in and it was fine. If you were able to use the laptop, there's no problem with the charger. Otherwise, there was a power outage while you tried using it or the charger doesn't work. You figure that out.

If you were able to use the laptop with the battery alone, then there's no problem with the battery and I don't know what you're complaining about. Otherwise, either your computer died or the battery needs replacement.
